Police allege a man was stabbed in the back by roommate during argument in apartment near NorthTown Mall

Spokane police suspect a woman stabbed her roommate in the back Wednesday evening after an argument erupted in their apartment near NorthTown Mall.

While the male victim was being treated in a local hospital for serious injuries, police arrested his housemate, 48-year-old Destiny Dill, after she left the unit at 608 E. Wabash Ave., court records say.

Dill, reportedly a “two strike” felon in Washington state, told detectives she would “go away to prison for the rest of her life” if she were convicted, records say. She was charged Thursday with first-degree assault with a deadly weapon. She has no felony history in Spokane County.

Ruben Manzanares, identified in court records as the stabbing victim, told police he and Dill were arguing in agreement against a third roommate, who left the apartment earlier that evening.

The argument then flipped, said Manzanares, and Dill started saying he was “fake,” records say. A short time later, as he sat in his office, records say Dill stabbed him in the back with a 6- to 8-inch kitchen knife.

Manzanares’ wounds are considered serious, police said Thursday, but not life-threatening.

Dill’s bail was set at $250,000 in court Thursday afternoon.
