Snap Fitness to join Ponderosa Village development in Spokane Valley

Minnesota-based Snap Fitness will be the newest tenant in the Ponderosa Village development in Spokane Valley.

Ponderosa Village developers filed an application with the city to remodel tenant space into a fitness area with an office, restrooms and storage.

Ponderosa Village also confirmed plans to lease space to Snap Fitness via its Facebook page.

Minnesota-based Snap Fitness is a health and fitness club founded in 2003 by Peter Taunton. It has more than 2,500 clubs in 26 countries with nine gyms in the Spokane region.

Colbert-based ZCR is the project contractor.

Ponderosa Village, adjacent to Barney’s Harvest Foods at 11205 E. Dishman Mica Road, was announced early last year. It’s headed by Ken Tuntland, owner of Barney’s Harvest Foods, and Clyde Haase, project manager.

It will be built out in phases over the next three years based on tenant demand.

Tuntland took a community driven approach with the development by distributing more than 8,800 flyers with surveys asking residents about the type of retail stores they wanted in their neighborhood. Residents expressed interest in mom-and-pop businesses, such as coffee shops and locally-owned restaurants.

Ponderosa Village – at full build-out – will feature five buildings, each 5,000 to 6,000 square feet. The multitenant buildings will be built to the west and south of Barney’s Harvest Foods, which is anchoring the development.

The Mix Salon and Day Spa as well as Hello Sugar opened in the development earlier this year.
