Dust blowing over the roadway on Interstate 90 caused multiple crashes west of Ritzville on Saturday afternoon, according to Washington State Patrol.

Minor injuries were reported due to those crashes and seven vehicles were involved, according to Trooper Jeff Sevigney, a WSP spokesperson. Eastbound lanes were closed for about an hour while westbound lanes remained closed past 4 p.m.

At least one semitruck was involved, according to WSP.

The dust storm began at about 2:20 p.m., according to the Spokane Regional Transportation Management Center.

The National Weather Service projected wind gusts up to 30 mph near Ritzville Saturday.
