Spokane police recover body from Spokane River near Kendall Yards

Spokane police recovered a body from the Spokane River just west of the Monroe Street Bridge near Kendall Yards Saturday morning.

Police received a report of a body floating in the river at about 9:15 a.m. and major crimes detectives responded, according to Spokane police spokesman Officer Craig Hamilton.

A section of the Centennial Trail was closed while detectives investigated, Hamilton said. Police cleared the scene at about 1:45 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing and Hamilton said he could not provide further details.
