After running a red light Tuesday in the Hillyard area, a truck hit another vehicle and then ran into a nearby power pole causing a portion of Crestline Street to be closed into the evening.

The truck was going south on Crestline at about midday when it ran a stop light and hit another car, according to a Spokane Police Department statement.

After hitting the car, the truck continued across oncoming lanes of traffic, over the curb and into a power pole, which split and fell over.

Both drivers sustained minor injuries. Avista said the damage was extensive and sent trucks to the area, with workers trying to replace the pole for most of Tuesday, according to police.

The northbound lanes of Crestline, between Hoffman and Wellesley avenues, were closed through Tuesday evening rush-hour traffic, according to SPD.
