CenturyLink to layoff 70 field technicians in Washington, including 5 in Spokane

Monroe, Louisiana-based CenturyLink is planning to layoff dozens of field technicians in the state, including five employees in Spokane, the company confirmed Monday.

“Based on continuous assessment of our business needs and workforce alignment, we are reducing our field operations workforce by approximately five employees in Spokane and a total of approximately 70 in Washington,” Mark Molzen, spokesman for CenturyLink said in an email.

The last day of work for the company’s five Spokane-based employees is May 29.

CenturyLink has more than 1,500 employees in the state. The company employs more than 45,000 people worldwide.
