Driver who struck and killed pedestrian near University District remains at large

A pedestrian was struck and killed Monday night near Spokane’s University District.

The driver fled the scene and remains at large, Spokane police said in a news release.

Emergency crews were called to Spokane Falls Boulevard and Hamilton Street just before 8:30 p.m. After finding the injured man, officers and medics performed CPR, but the man died on scene.

Police have not identified the victim in the crash.

Witnesses told police they saw a car fleeing the scene. Police found the car involved in the crash abandoned about a mile away, police said.
