Learn about weight loss medication as UW medical school hosts obesity expert Dr. Ellen Schur this week
As they gain popularity, weight loss medications will be the focus of a Spokane talk by obesity expert Dr. Ellen Schur.
Speaking Thursday evening at Gonzaga University, Schur is the founder of the University of Washington Medicine Center for Weight Loss and Metabolic Surgery.
The internal medicine physician will explore how brain inflammation affects appetite and provide context on this new class of weight-loss medications like Ozempic and Wegovy. Schur conducts research on brain regulation of appetite and also teaches and mentors medical students, physician fellows and graduate students in clinical research on obesity.
She was invited to speak by the UW Medical school in Spokane. The event will take place 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Jepsen Center’s Wolff Auditorium
