Two dead in St. Maries after Can-Am rolls into river

A Potlatch man and woman were killed when their Can-Am Maverick Sport went off road and into the St. Joe River on Friday in St. Maries.

Neither the man, 52, nor woman, 51, were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, a news release from Idaho State Police said. Both were pronounced dead at the scene and next of kin were notified.

The release said the roadway around the 9000 block of Railroad Grade Road was blocked for around 41/2 hours.
