Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg praises West’s green energy potential in Coeur d’Alene on Thursday

Buttigieg said "there's a lot to be excited about" in the package that was unveiled Wednesday as part of a sweeping presentation on American infrastructure delivered on the final day of the Western Governors Association annual meeting. The transportation secretary, the fourth cabinet member of the Biden administration to address the group this week, touted the future of electric vehicles, autonomous transportation and the infrastructure improvements that could be made with the previous, $1.2 trillion infrastructure law passed by Congress last year.

If you’d like to make a call: 10-digit dialing begins in Eastern Washington today – what gives?

On Sunday, the central office code 988 will switch over to directing callers to a national suicide prevention line by order of the Federal Communications Commission. Because that code is used to direct calls to the phone subscribers in the 509 area code, Eastern Washingtonians will have to dial the full 10-digit number in order to connect, whether on mobile or a landline.
