Wild Card/Thursday -- 2.16.17 14

Thirteen years ago today, I launched HucksOnline. I had no idea what I was in for. I only knew that it was growing tired of writing editorials for the SR and it was something new. As it turned out, Huckleberries Online crowded out my editorial writing duties and eventually I became the only full-time newspaper blogger in Idaho ...

Huckleberries Past -- Feb 17, 1985

Woody McEvers suggested that I begin running Huckleberries from days gone by. I've accumulated them for 32 years. Here's one of the first from my Feb. 17, 1985, column -- about the retirement of CdA street superintendent Reid Walker. Did you know that Reid never plowed snow in February. Reid, BTW, died Sunday at age 89.

But the ongoing campaign by President Trump would be ludicrous if he didn't have the podium of the presidency.

In this April 1998 SR file photo, North Idaho College second baseman Al Bevacqua turns his head away from the impact and tags out CSI's Mike Gillies, who was trying to steal, in the first inning. The first poem that Tom Wobker/The Bard of Sherman Avenue wrote for either Huckleberries or my old Hot Potatoes columns targeted the NIC trustee decision to abandon baseball and other sports. (Jesse Tinsley/SR file photo)

The Bard's 1st poem

As far as I know, this was the first rhyme provided to Huckleberries by The Bard of Sherman Avenue, on May 20, 2002. The Bard offered this ode to North Idaho College trustees in wake of their arbitrary decision to cut five sports programs to help balance the budget.

This is Huckleberries

In the beginning, Cis Gors/Simple Mind described Huckleberries Online perfectly: "(Huckleberries Online) is like the guys who get together for coffee at a local shop, and everyone has an opinion, about almost everything ... Now take that table and expand it as far as your mind can think."

1st Huckleberries Online post ever

Robyn has a personal reason to be upset.
