Here come the Seahawks-Packer bets

Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell have a bet involving beer and cheese with a Wisconsin counterpart on Sunday's game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers.

Murray and Cantwell are putting up Rainier and Redhook beer and WSU's Cougar Gold cheese. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wisc., is betting New Glarus Spotted Cow Beer, Sprecher root beer and Renard's cheese curds.

Here's what passes for trash talking, Senate style:

“The Packers may pride themselves on winning on Wisconsin’s frozen tundra, but the truth is that the 12th Man provides the greatest home field advantage in the NFL,” Murray and Cantwell said. “It might be cold in Green Bay, but it’s loud in Seattle, and we’re looking forward to a Seahawks win and some Wisconsin beer and cheese courtesy of Senator Baldwin.”

“The only thing 12 represents is the number of the best quarterback in the NFL - Aaron Rodgers,” Baldwin said. “While the Seahawks may be reigning Super Bowl champs, the Packers are poised to claim victory this Sunday and come one step closer to bringing our fifth Vince Lombardi Trophy home to Titletown, USA.”

A bet between Gov. Jay Inslee and Republican Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin is said to be forthcoming.
