Bernie Sanders event in Coeur d’Alene next week; presidential hopeful won’t attend

Update 4:50 p.m.

We just heard from local organizers, who said Bernie Sanders won't attend the event held in Coeur d'Alene next week.

Previous report

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is making an unlikely campaign stop in North Idaho next week.

The "Feel the Bern Salsa and Chili Cook-Off" begins at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 23 in McEuen Park in Coeur d'Alene. Music and guest speakers are also planned.

The event will start with a walk around Tubbs Hill at 2:30 p.m. It's open to all Bernie 2016 supporters, according to a campaign news release.

Attendees are requested to RSVP at www.BernieSanders.com. Questions about the cookoff can be directed to Jeremiah Brunelle at hippesthippi@aol.com.
