Too Many Cooks

Behind the scenes at Spokane Whiskey Club

"I am going, I am going

Any which way the wind may be blowing

I am going, I am going

Where streams of whiskey are flowing"

– The Pogues

You'll learn the first rule of Spokane Whiskey Club in Sunday's Spokesman-Review and meet the men – yes, they're all men – who gather monthly to review whiskeys for their website.

The idea is to help consumers select the right bottle – or bottles – without spending a small fortune. Members of Spokane Whiskey Club are working men and fans of value whiskeys. One of their most trusted brands is Buffalo Trace.

The club is private and – with eight members – at capacity. But members host tasting events for friends and their guests and other non-members. Talk ranges from the scent of the spirit to the first taste, second taste, third taste and finish.

Of course, it might meander in between sips.

Sunday's story sits in on a recent club meeting. It just might make you want to start your own whiskey club.

Cheers!
