This Brit-Royal Is Seeking To Have A Hollywood Star

Compiled By Staff Writer Dan Web

Just like one of her cartoon characters, the Duchess of York is a brave little trooper.

She’s learning how to support herself.

Estranged from her husband, Britain’s Prince Andrew, the former Sarah Ferguson has been working on a deal to bring her children’s book character, “Budgie the Little Helicopter,” to this side of the Atlantic.

Now the star of an animated television series in England, “Budgie” is expected to become a regular on the Fox Children’s Network this coming fall.

And Fergie couldn’t be happier.

“I’m 35, I’m in 1995, I’ve got two healthy children, I’m a separated woman, I’m a working woman,” she says. “Royal or not, I’ve got to get out there.”

Loose talk

MTV news reporter Tabitha Soren on Newt Gingrich and the Contract With America (in Direct Satellite magazine): “He’s whip-smart. There are a lot of good things in here. Half of the things I agree with, and the other half makes me want to hurl.”

(Sing) ‘Here she comes, Miss accused of a felony’

Bess Myerson turns 71 today.

Sure, they’re dreaming - of how she fattens their wallets

Abraham Quintanilla Jr., the father and manager of the late Tejano singer Selena, is upset over the bootleg versions being marketed of the murdered songbird’s final album “Dreaming of You.” “It’s not so much the money,” Quintanilla says. “It’s just that they are profiting from it. And they don’t care about our family.”

And what else do they throw? Well, it depends

“I just did a gig at Treasure Island Casino. I didn’t have groupies, I had AARPies (American Association of Retired Persons),” reports comedian Pat Harrington, 65-year-old ex-star of “One Day at a Time.” “They don’t throw panties onstage… They give you a good mutual fund or a mustard plaster.”

But he still won’t give a man a foot massage

Quentin Tarantino, already an actor-writer-director, is now a studio exec. He’s been named head of Rolling Thunder, a “specialty label” division of Miramax Films. He’ll be responsible for releasing up to four titles a year from among obscure films, new films and vintage films.

All she needs now, of course, is a polo mallet

Here’s our nominee for today’s Go-For-It Ambition Award: “I have always wanted to be a star,” says Minneapolis radio personality Barbara Carlson. “And now I’m on the brink. Is it going to work? I can’t tell you. But if it doesn’t, am I going to curl up under my down comforter in my Lanz nightgown and never come out? No, siree. Especially if there is still Prozac in the world.”

And, in the end, it turns out Bo knows banking

Bo Jackson’s days as an advertising meal ticket may be over, but he’s not complaining. The ex-Nike spokesman, who also dabbled in professional sports, made a lot of money in the process. “I don’t have to go out and get a job for the rest of my life,” he says.
