Broadcasters Will Host Usa’s Film Marathon

To coincide with the first game of the 1995 World Series today, the USA Network will step up to the plate with the “USA Triple Play,” a 6-1/2 hour baseball movie marathon.

Hosted by baseball broadcasters Tim McCarver (who will broadcast the World Series on ABC for The Baseball Network and also a New York Mets television commentator) and Ralph Kiner (Hall-of-Fame player and New York Mets commentator), the movies run from 1-7:30 p.m.

McCarver and Kiner will lead viewers through “Talent for the Game” (1 p.m.), “Major League” (3 p.m.) and “Field of Dreams” (5 p.m.).

Also featured throughout the afternoon are candid interviews with actors Edward James Olmos, Lorraine Bracco and Jamey Sheridan from “Talent for the Game;” Corbin Bernsen from “Major League;” and Timothy Busfield from “Field of Dreams.”

Throughout the afternoon and leading up to Game 1 of the World Series, McCarver and Kiner will relate tales from their playing days to the three movies.

They’ll chat about scouting throughout “Talent for the Game,” clubhouse antics and superstitions during “Major League,” and their baseball dreams as children throughout “Field of Dreams.”
