The Slice Dentures: The Wild Saga

A pleasant woman named Colleen Berkompas told us about the time her dad lost his dentures while going to the bathroom.

But we’re not going to tell you about it. We just used that as a cheap, exploitative way to lure you in. (For the record, the story is quite tame.)

The best-looking teachers: The first round of nominations included Christian Heritage School in Edwall and Whitworth College.

And one guy said “It’s got to be Hamblen Elementary. I took my son there to register and, wow!”

No, you haven’t been fired yet: According to a national survey, 34 percent of people on summer vacation this year checked in with the office while away.

Going home again: “When I moved back here four years ago, I took my husband and kids to see the house my family built and lived in while I was a kid,” wrote Sherry in Pend Oreille County. “The woman who lives there now was having a yard sale. I bought some of my own stuff back that had been left in a box in the barn, but I didn’t say anything to the woman about it.”

Card us: You still have until Saturday to enter your business card in The Slice’s Business Card Contest.

The 8,956th TV special on settlers moving to the West: Tonight on PBS, it’s part of the terrific “American Experience” series.

Our all-time favorite aimed-at-theopponents high school football cheer:

Watermelon, watermelon

Watermelon rind

Look at the scoreboard

See who’s behind

You, you, you

Warm-up questions: Have you ever thought you were going to black out while trapped on an airplane next to someone paging through a magazine containing one of those fragrancebomb ads? Who had the best/worst college roommate in history?

Today’s Slice question: What lesson should everyone here learn from the stunning success of Myst?
