Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

All those cardboard rolls, including paper-towel rolls, come in handy, so why throw them away?

Some of our readers store extension cords in them.

The long gift wrap rolls are great to mail posters or store in a corner of a closet so the poster doesn’t crease.

Toilet tissue cardboard rolls are great to put photos in so they don’t bend or crease. Just roll them gently and slip them into the roll.

If you keep large sharp knives in a drawer, slipping them into a paper towel roll will prevent anyone getting cut. - Heloise

Dear Heloise: Besides having “organ donor” on my license, I also wear a Medic-alert bracelet with “organ donor” on it. In many instances, by the time the license is checked, it could be too late. I also have a medic-alert necklace for when I dress up and the bracelet isn’t appropriate. The necklace is out of sight. - Donna MacKay, Littleton, N.H.
