Logger Killed After Tree Falls On Him

From Staff Reports

A Sandpoint man was killed this week after being struck by a tree while logging near Priest Lake.

Paul Changala, 43, was working on a logging job Tuesday near Eastshore Road. He was driving a skidder and moving logs when a tree fell on him, Bonner County authorities said.

A co-worker called 911. An ambulance and a medical helicopter were sent to the scene, but Changala died before help arrived. The accident, which occurred about 7:30 a.m., is under investigation.

Changala is survived by two children.
