WSU Student Killed In Fall

Eric Sorensen Staff writer

A Washington State University student died over spring break when he fell from the balcony of a hotel in Honolulu.

Aaron Iverson, 22, of Renton, Wash., was vacationing with several other members of his fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon, when he fell late last week.

Details of the accident still were sketchy Tuesday.

A family spokesman said Iverson fell early Friday morning, while the president of Iverson’s WSU fraternity would say only that he had fallen sometime Thursday night, possibly after going out to dinner with his father.

Iverson was the son of Dave Iverson, owner of Broadcast Ink, which owns the commercial rights to WSU Cougar football and basketball broadcasts. Barry Dougan, a vice president of the company, said the elder Iverson was staying in a condominium on the island when his son fell.

Dougan declined to say what hotel Aaron Iverson was staying at or how many stories he had fallen. He said he did not know if alcohol was involved.

Honolulu police said they have no record of the fall, and the medical examiner could not be reached.

A memorial service was held in Redmond, Wash., for Iverson on Monday, and another service is being planned in Pullman. Iverson will be buried at a family plot in North Dakota later this year, Dougan said.
