Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: When we travel with our two Scottish terriers, even though our car is air-conditioned, it often gets too hot for them in the back seat. I made a doggie blanket with many pockets that covers the seat. I insert frozen “freezer packs” in the pockets. When the dogs get too warm, they just wander over to a cool spot and lie down. They’re happy and so am I. Just remember, this is not a substitute that can be used when you are not in the car with your pets. Never leave your pets in a car with the windows up unattended. - Carol Kristofik, Lower Burrell, Pa.

Dear Heloise: It is so annoying when I am standing in a checkout line for quite some time and a new checker opens a few aisles down, looks right at the last person who just walked up in my line and asks if she can help them. I had waited seven minutes; he had waited seven seconds! - A Texas Mother
