Art, Food Share Stage In Cda

Art and food lovers will flock to Coeur d’Alene this weekend for a three-fold event that finds hundreds of artists and vendors hawking their wares, displaying their talents and cooking up their finest feasts.

The events are Art on the Green, The Street Fair and Sidewalk Sale, and A Taste of the Coeur d’Alenes Fine Food and Arts Fair.

All three run Friday through Sunday.

Art on the Green

It is the 29th anniversary of this art and entertainment festival, held at the North Idaho College grounds Friday through Sunday.

Art on the Green features a juried show, booth artists, craft areas for children and adults, and food booths.

Open to the public for free, entertainment also is offered up by a variety of musical and performance groups.

On both Friday and Saturday, Kagura, a 15-member group from Hiroshima, Japan, will perform their folk artistry with props that include a double-headed dragon and samurai swords.

On Friday, Golden Bough will perform Celtic music beginning at 6:30 p.m. with the featured performers, the Big Sky Mudflaps, to follow with their jazz, swing and rhythm and blues.

On Saturday, Sukay will bring music from the Andes to Coeur d’Alene at 5:30 p.m.

The Trail Band caps off the evening with music from the mid-1800s. Their performance includes readings from pioneer diaries, traditional European tunes and Native American songs.

On Sunday, Urban Rhythms offer up gospel music at 11:30 a.m.

Art on the Green hours are: Friday, noon to 10 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Street Fair and Sidewalk Sale

In case you didn’t get enough at Art on the Green, mosey on to downtown Coeur d’Alene.

Downtown merchants along with more than 130 arts and crafts booths will have more goods for your perusal and purchase.

Street music will be performed on the corners and a mini kiddie carnival will be set up. A Disneyland sketch artist will be featured in Sherman Square Park on Friday and Saturday from noon to 6 p.m.

Friday evening from 8 p.m. to midnight, KDRK-FM radio station will sponsor a free dance in the plaza in front of the Coeur d’Alene Resort.

Street Fair hours are: Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A Taste of the Coeur d’Alenes

This food and fine arts fair offers some savory morsels.

From baklava to German sausage to caramel apples, venders from around the Inland Northwest dish up their best dishes. Check out the artwork and the music while you’re munching.

Among the bands performing: the Rhythm Dogs, the Idaho Old Time Fiddlers and the Gadabouts.

Located in Coeur d’Alene City Park, this food fair is open on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
