Jockey Gary Stevens celebrated his first victory at England’s prestigious Royal Ascot meet and a victory over Breeders Cup Turf winner Pilsudski in Ascot, England. He then was suspended for two days for overuse of the whip and could miss two big races in the U.S.

Halfback Dorsey Levens, whose play down the stretch was pivotal in the Green Bay Packers’ drive to the Super Bowl, re-signed with the club.

The Packers also announced the signing of unrestricted free agent Steve Bono as a backup quarterback.

Orlin Norris has settled his federal lawsuit accusing promoter Don King and the WBA of barring him from the top rankings and a shot at the heavyweight title.

Norris had sought to bar the WBA from sanctioning the June 28 rematch between Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The settlement calls for Norris, ranked sixth by the WBA, to meet the winner of tonight’s bout between No. 2 Francois Botha and No. 11 Lee Gilbert.
