‘Murder One’ Star Raps Network

Barry Koltnow The Orange County Register

When ABC pulled the plug on its critically acclaimed series “Murder One” just before a scheduled six-hour miniseries was about to air, almost everyone in the television industry was shocked.

Yet, as stunning as the announcement was, there was at least one person who was not that surprised - series star Anthony LaPaglia.

“Nothing they would do surprises me,” the actor said shortly after the announcement was made.

“They never gave us a chance from the beginning,” he added. “We never ran four consecutive episodes. They pre-empted us any chance they could. They would have pre-empted us for a show on basket-weaving if they could.

“Then they put us up against ‘Seinfeld.’ They had a great show on their hands, better than 95 percent of their programming, and they chose to sink us. …

“I think you can safely assume that you won’t be seeing me on another ABC series.”
