Ballet Arts Academy Dancers Picked For Summer Programs

Several students of the Ballet Arts Academy successfully auditioned for summer dance programs throughout the country.

The students and their summer troupes are: Jessica Hilt, Alvin Ailey American Dance Center; Stephanie Birdwell and Mercedes Klein, JAZZART; Marisa Glesk, Los Angeles Dance Force; Satoru Teruyama, Milwaukee Ballet School, The Rock School, San Francisco Ballet and the School of Hartford Ballet; and Kelly Cross, Oregon Ballet Theatre.

Katherine Wolters, Pacific Northwest Ballet School; Sarah Glesk, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and the Summer Dance Lab in Walla Walla; and Rosemary Elison, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, The Rock School and the School of Hartford Ballet.

Lindsey Breeden, Jillian Carrick, Whitney Cover, Margaret Crumet, Margaret Mellon, Shani Porter, Catie Rose Sherry, Yoli Stetson, Kristy Thompson, Kendal Thurlow Hartse and Krista Yep, Summer Dance Lab in Walla Walla.

Arleene Wood of Spokane was among the top House of Lloyd sales associates nationwide to attend a training meeting in Cancun, Mexico. She qualified for the expense-paid trip for her outstanding sales in 1996.

Robert Dirks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Dirks, Spokane, and a student of Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Ind., placed first in the annual Indiana College Mathematics Competition.

Ashlee Daub, a Spokane resident, received a scholarship from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, Calif., for outstanding high school grades and meeting the university’s educational and social goals.
