Marine A.J. Grabicki Earns Naval Academy Appointment

Marine Corps Lance Corporal Anthony J. “A.J.” Grabicki has accepted an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy as a midshipman, class of 2001. Upon graduation from the academy in Annapolis, Md., he will be commissioned as an officer in either the Marine Corps or Navy.

Grabicki was one of 20 enlisted Marines selected by the Secretary of the Navy to attend the academy.

He is a 1994 Lewis and Clark High School graduate and the son of Anthony and Sally Grabicki.

Scott Kee, Spokane, received the Liston A. Houston Scholarship of $1,000 from the University of Delaware, Newark, based on merit, scholarly and campus activities and need. Kee also received the Department of Electrical Engineering’s alumni award for demonstrating outstanding achievement in scholarship.

Several Inland Northwest students graduated this spring from Central Washington University in Ellensburg. The students, their degrees and home towns, are:

Bradley Jenkins, social science, Endicott, Wash.

John Pouley, anthropology, Pullman.

Ann Crawford, gerontology, William Beatty, political science, Kenneth Johnson, loss control management, John McMurtery, music (wind performance), and Kevin Gibson, business administration, all of Spokane.

Elizabeth Schmedding, elementary education, Opportunity.

Lewis Barros, Spanish, Carolyn Herrud, elementary education, and Eva VanBeek, paramedic, all of Othello, Wash.

John Lintho, elementary education, Mattawa, Wash.

Several Inland Northwest students attending George Fox University in Newberg, Ore., were named to the Dean’s List for spring semester. The students, their class years and home towns are:

Jonathan Williams, sophomore, Mead.

Nicole Affeldt, sophomore, Medical Lake.

Michael Dahl, freshman, Newman Lake.

Shawnah Barnes, freshman, Rachel Bowie, freshman, Andrew Laughlin, junior, and Elizabeth Voogd, sophomore, all of Spokane.
