Abc Specials To Fill Void Left By ‘Cracker’

The Hollywood Reporter

ABC will return freshman shows “Hiller and Diller” and “Nothing Sacred” to its schedule next month, while specials will help fill a hole left by canceled Saturday drama “Cracker.”

“Hiller and Diller” began the season at 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays but will air at 9:30 p.m. Fridays beginning March 6. The comedy replaces “Teen Angel,” which will go on hiatus.

“Nothing Sacred” will reappear at 9 p.m. Saturdays beginning March 7. The first new episode, “Kindred Spirits,” will introduce character Justine Madsen Judd, played by Jennifer Beals.

ABC will air hourlong specials at 8 p.m. Saturdays during March to fill the void left by the canceled drama “Cracker,” which began the season on Thursdays with “Nothing Sacred” before jumping to Saturdays.

Griffith working for CBS laughs

CBS has snagged Melanie Griffith to star in “Me & George,” a comedy in development for the 1998-99 season. The sitcom, which will feature Griffith as a single mom raising a newborn in New York, marks the actress’ first foray into network television. Griffith was nominated for an Oscar for 1988’s “Working Girl” and also starred in films such as “Something Wild,” “Body Double,” “The Milagro Beanfield War” and “Pacific Heights.” She is set to appear next opposite James Woods in indie film “Another Day in Paradise” and in “Celebrity,” the next picture from Woody Allen.
