Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: The best food or kitchen hint that comes to mind is one I discovered many years ago.

I always cut and peel melons such as cantaloupes as soon as I get them home and store the pieces in plasticware. I turn the container upside down, making sure the lid is on securely, and put it in the refrigerator. The melon stays sweet and fresh for two or three weeks. - Lee Rios, Katy, Texas

Dear Heloise: I have another suggestion for the reader who had the bottom part of a light bulb left in the socket. If you cut a potato in half and push one half over the socket and turn it, you can turn the rest of the bulb out with no mishaps.

Enjoy your column every day. - Sandy Acker, Chapman, Kan.

This hint has been around for decades and is still a good one today. Please note: Be sure the electricity is turned off! - Heloise
