Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: My husband had been cutting our four sons’ hair for the last 10 years or so. We have a plastic protector that we wrap around them before they get their hair cut. It has a self-sticking, fabric-tape fastener which is full of hair. How do I clean it? - Julie Avant, Olathe, Kan.

Since it is self-gripping, you’d think they could make it self-cleaning too! While we’re waiting, there is an easy alternative to keeping unwanted lint, or hair in your case, from building up in the tape fibers.

All you need is a small crochet hook to gently pick out the hair. If you don’t have one handy, a stiff toothbrush can be used to brush it out.

To help keep the self-gripping fabric tape cleaner, keep the two ends stuck together as much as possible, especially when storing. - Heloise
