Susan G. Shumsky, an expert on meditation and spiritual healing, will present a workshop Sunday at Unity Church of North Spokane.

Shumsky, who worked on the personal staff of the founder of Transcendental Meditation, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, has taught meditation, self-development and intuition in the United States, Canada, Europe and the Far East

She is the author of three books: “Divine Revelation,” “Exploring Meditation” and “Exploring Chakras.”

Buddhist retreat

Join the Spokane Buddhist Temple for a Jodo Shinshu Buddhist retreat next weekend at the Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute.

“Practicing No Practice” will be presented by Kenji Akahoshi from Friday through July 25. Cost is $125 and includes the course, room for two nights, lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday.

Labyrinth walk

The Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 12th Avenue and Grand Boulevard, is hosting an outdoor labyrinth walk on Sunday at 7 p.m.

Andrea McCrady will play the carillon bells and will give a brief lecture, “How to Walk the Labyrinth,” at 6:30 p.m.

Rummage sale

Heritage Congregational Church, 1801 E. 29th Ave., is holding a rummage sale today.

The sale begins at 8:30 a.m. and will feature furniture, clothing, books, jewelry, games, toys and more. Call the church office at 624-5090 for more information.

Car raffle

Raffle tickets are available for a 2004 Kia or $6,000 from Emmanuel Metropolitan Community Church.

A drawing will be held on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the church, 301 S. Freya St. Ticket holders need not be present to win.
