JUST WEEKS AFTER undergoing a kidney transplant, George Lopez says he feels better than ever. “It hasn’t even been a month, and I feel alive,” the 44-year-old actor says in an interview airing tonight on ABC’s “Primetime Live.”

“I feel as good as I did bad, I mean it’s unbelievable,” he says. “Everything has changed. My personality has changed, my appetite has changed, my energy level has changed.”

Lopez, star of a self-titled ABC comedy, had a genetic condition that caused kidney deterioration. Last month, he received a kidney donated by his wife, Ann.

“It’s almost like, if you were buried alive and you were trying to dig yourself out,” he says. “That’s what it felt like, just everything was just a burden.”

Still, Lopez says he never considered quitting his TV show.

“You can’t quit,” Lopez says. “I wasn’t going to quit. You know, this is what I was made to do and I was going to do it and I wasn’t going to stop until you know, it stopped me.”

Heidi seals the deal

German supermodel Heidi Klum and singer Seal were married Tuesday on a beach in Mexico.

In January, Klum, 31, said on her Web site that she and the 42-year-old Seal were engaged. Two months later, the couple announced that Klum was pregnant.

They began dating last year, shortly after her breakup with Renault Formula One team boss Flavio Briatore, who is the father of her daughter, Leni, born last May.

Not exactly easy on the eyes

Eva Longoria of ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” tops Maxim magazine’s sixth annual Hot 100 list of the most successful women of the year in entertainment.

Evangeline Lilly (“Lost”) is in the No. 2 spot, followed by Jennifer Garner, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Alba, Rachel Bilson (“The O.C.”), Angelina Jolie, Brittany Murphy, Jessica Simpson and Sara Foster.

“These are the women whose names are on the lips of people the world over, whose careers are headed for the dizziest heights and whose looks will scorch the back off your retina,” said Maxim Editor-in-Chief Ed Needham.

Denton plagued by leaks

James Denton, who plays a mysterious plumber on “Desperate Housewives,” has been forced to leave his new L.A.-area home after a national magazine published a picture of it, causing strangers to drop by uninvited.

“When you’ve got kids, you know, David Letterman had that problem with his child,” Denton, who has two young children, tells Celebrity Justice. “So you’ve got to be aware of it, and you’ve got to take precautions.”

Maybe the Fridge was too full

Massive former NFL lineman William “The Refrigerator” Perry badly lost a cake-eating contest this week to a 135-pound opponent.

Richard LeFevre – a retired auditor from Nevada who goes by the nickname “The Locust” – devoured a 5-pound birthday cake in 11 minutes, 26 seconds on Tuesday at New York’s Grand Central Station to earn the title of “World Cake Eating Champion.”
