In the end, he’ll be known as a man of his words

Bono says he’d rather be remembered for his music than his activism. A dedicated lobbyist for the world’s poor and AIDS-stricken, the U2 frontman told CBS’ “60 Minutes” on Sunday that “I think my work – the activism – will be forgotten.

“And I hope it will. Because I hope those problems will have gone away,” he said.

Since 1999, Bono has helped persuade Republicans and Democrats, presidents and lawmakers, to provide millions to help end the scourge of AIDS, eliminate poverty in Africa and forgive Third World debt.

The Irish rocker also predicted that his music will still be around in 100 years, claiming that his songs occupy “an emotional terrain that didn’t exist before our group did.”

And Bono, 45, said he has no intention of slowing down. He noted that people in rock ‘n’ roll burn out at age 40, but said he wanted to see if his band could continue making “extraordinary” music.

“You know I’m still hungry,” said the winner of 14 Grammy awards. “I still want a lot out of music.”

A little love for Courtney

Courtney Love, who has been at a live-in drug treatment facility since September, can enroll in an outpatient program, a judge has ruled.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Rand Rubin cut short her sentence for violating probation in three criminal cases, including two drug-related charges. He had previously ordered Love, 41, to spend 180 days at the residential facility.

Rubin also extended her probation to March 2007 and set her curfew at 10 p.m.

“I certainly hope you keep up the good progress,” he said. “You’re definitely going in the right direction.”

Hey, ladies, stay away from that cat

“Sopranos” actor Vincent Pastore pleaded guilty Monday to attempting to assault a former girlfriend.

As part of the plea deal, Pastore will perform 70 hours of community service, attend six months of weekly anger management therapy and pay a $190 fine.

If convicted at trial, he could have been sentenced to as much as a year in jail.

Pastore, who played gangster Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on the HBO series, was accused of attacking Lisa Regina during an argument in Little Italy. Prosecutors said he punched her in the back of the head, grabbed her hair and forced her head down on a car’s gear shift.

Christina Aguilera tied the knot with music executive Jordan Bratman on Saturday at a vineyard in California’s Napa Valley, Us Weekly says.

Sources told the magazine that Aguilera, 24, her hair decorated in jewels and pulled back in a bun topped by white flowers, walked down the aisle in a Christian Lacroix gown. About 130 guests watched her and Bratman, 28, exchange rings.

He’s still her baby ‘Beach’ boy

Meanwhile, the mother of 19-year-old “Laguna Beach” MTV reality star Talan Torriero is said to be distraught over her son’s pending wedding to Rod Stewart‘s daughter, Kimberly.

A source told the New York Post that the unnamed mom was “hysterically crying. She is not happy.”

The couple announced their engagement last week. Stewart, 26, recently broke up with Joe Francis, the man behind the “Girls Gone Wild” videos.
