Hey, wild child – mind yours

Britney Spears is making no apologies for her recent hard-partying ways.

Spears, who filed for divorce last month from Kevin Federline, has been making headlines for her nights out with gal pals Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan – including some infamous paparazzi shots sans panties.

“It’s been so long since I’ve been out on the town with friends. It’s also been two years since I’ve even celebrated my birthday,” Spears, who turned 25 on Saturday, wrote in a posting Thursday on her Web site.

“Every move I make at this point has been magnified more than I expected, and I probably did take my newfound freedom a little too far,” she acknowledged.

“Anyway, thank God for Victoria’s Secret’s new underwear line! I look forward to a new year, new music and a new me.”

By the way, there’s apparently no truth to reports that Spears is being investigated by the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services for neglecting her two sons.

Grain of salt

Eddie Murphy‘s protestations to the contrary, former Spice Girl Melanie Brown says she’s certain he’s the father of her unborn child.

Murphy recently told a TV interviewer that he won’t know whose child it is “until it comes out and has a blood test.”

Through her publicist, the onetime Scary Spice replied: “I was astonished what Eddie said. There is absolutely no question that Eddie is the father.”

Jenny marry Carrey?

Semi-undercover couple Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy, who recently returned from the Tom Cruise-Katie Holmes wedding in Italy, apparently aren’t inclined to do anything similar themselves.

“We’re happy with the way things are,” McCarthy tells the “Extra” syndicated TV show. “We have no plans to get married.”

Hot blood, cold feet

The planned nuptials between Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida and her longtime Spanish boyfriend have been called off.

Lollobrigida, 79, had been scheduled to marry Javier Rigau y Rafols, 45, next month in Rome. The couple, who met at a party in Monte Carlo, had been dating for 22 years.

“Javier is desperate. Ever since we have announced this wedding, he has been tormented with lies and slander,” she says.

“He can’t take it anymore. For now there is no wedding and that’s it.”

Bosom buddies

David Gest says he has no regrets about his short-lived marriage to Liza Minnelli.

“What was not to love? She was a very sexy, sensuous woman,” Gest tells London’s Daily Mirror. “But she was an alcoholic.”

As for rumors about his own sexuality, he adds: “I love every pleasure women have to offer a red-blooded male. … I have always loved to sleep on a woman’s breast. I slept on Liza’s left breast.”
