Gonzo, but not forgotten

The Spokesman-Review

Hunter S. Thompson‘s widow is letting fans download a rarely seen photo of the gonzo journalist to mark the anniversary of his death.

Thompson was 67 when he shot himself to death last Feb. 20 in his home in Woody Creek, Colo., apparently despondent over health problems.

Anita Thompson said she decided to offer the photo on http://gonzostore.com in response to fans who have written to her.

“He has a special look in his eye that he had once in a while when he was up to something but was totally at peace,” she said. “I’ve taken thousands of pictures of him, but this one is my favorite.”

Dark secrets

Former British glam rocker Gary Glitter will stand trial March 2 on charges he committed obscene acts with two underage Vietnamese girls.

Glitter, 61, was convicted of possessing child pornography in 1999. He then went to Cambodia but was expelled in 2002.

He is perhaps best known for his song “Rock and Roll (Part 2),” often played at sporting events.

All that glitters

In new court filings in their divorce case, Nick Lachey says he might seek spousal support from Jessica Simpson.

The couple, who starred in their own MTV reality show, “Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica,” had no prenuptial agreement. In her divorce petition in December, Simpson requested that he not be granted spousal support.

Lachey also asked the court to confirm that “miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects” are separate property, as well as his earnings after their separation and other assets.

Is she K-Fed up?

Would-be rapper Kevin Federline – aka Mr. Britney Spears – doesn’t even have a CD out yet, but he’s already taking a beating in the press.

” ‘He hates his children, he treats his wife like dirt, he gets high all day,’ ” the former backup dancer says, quoting his critics. “If I was that bad, you think anyone, let alone Britney, would put up with it?”

Rolling to the top

The Rolling Stones just might have played the world’s biggest rock concert ever on Saturday, to 1.2 million people at Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach.

The Guinness Book of World Records lists a Dec. 31, 1994 performance on the very same beach by Rod Stewart as drawing an audience of 3.5 million. But Rio officials say that total was for all the New Year’s Eve events, not just the concert.
