Praise team service

The Millwood Presbyterian Church Praise Team will join the congregation of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, 1926 W. Chelan Ave., on Sunday during the 9:30 a.m. worship service.

Parish picnic

Christ the King Anglican Church will hold its Sunday service at Comstock Park, 29th Avenue and Howard Street, at 10 a.m. It will be followed by the annual picnic. For more information, call (509) 838-1633.

Faithful Men Quartet concerts

Bible Baptist Church, 1111 E. 16th Ave., Spokane Valley, will present the Faithful Men Quartet from West Coast Bible College on Monday at 7 p.m.

Mary Magdalene service

St. Mary’s Church, 304 S. Adams St., Spokane Valley, will offer a special prayer service to celebrate the feast day of Mary Magdalene on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The service will include scripture, music and speakers Kathy Finley and Sister Alice Anne Byrne.

Community concerts

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 8441 N. Indian Trail Road, is offering a community summer concert series on Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. starting Wednesday and running through Aug. 30.

Dan Conrad, an alternative rocker, will perform at the first concert. During intermission the Indian Trail Neighborhood Council will be available to talk to the community.

Audience members should bring their own blankets, chairs and snacks.

Carillon concert

The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., will present David Johnson in a carillon concert on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Johnson is the carillonneur at the House of Hope Presbyterian Church in St. Paul, Minn.

Club Hillyard for boys and girls

Hillyard Baptist Church has organized Club Hillyard, offering games, music and story time for children in kindergarten through fourth grade.

The gatherings are every Thursday through Aug. 24 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Bemiss Elementary School, 2323 E. Bridgeport Ave.

Vacation Bible school

Bible Baptist Church, 11111 E. 16th Ave., Spokane Valley, is holding “Blazin’ the Trail,” a Vacation Bible School for children ages 4 and older.

Sessions run from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Activities include Bible lessons, crafts and skits.

Firestorm prevention

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is joining with the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission to clean up small trees, branches and other flammable debris in Riverside State Park, 9711 W. Charles Road, Nine Mile Falls, next Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.

The church invites the community to pitch in. Anyone 12 and older can help. Volunteers should wear long pants, bring their own water and wear work gloves.

Halo Hoops

The Halo Hoops Ministries will tip off July 31 at Covenant United Methodist Church, 15515 N. Gleneden Drive, and continue through Aug. 4.

This basketball camp for boys and girls ages 6 to 13 will have sessions from 9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 5 p.m.

The cost is $80. Along with a camp T-shirt, participants will receive a basketball and Bible materials.
