Achievements

Andrew Goudreau recently attained the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest award given in the Boy Scouts. Goudreau, a member of Troop 80, is a senior at Mt. Spokane High School. For his project he built a boardwalk between buildings at the Spokane Humane Society for handicapped patrons. Goudreau is the son of Damian and Meg Goudreau of Colbert.

“ Maya Roseman recently graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in film and television production from Howard University, Washington, D.C. A 2002 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, Roseman is the daughter of Larry and Jennifer Roseman of Spokane. She has been accepted into the producers’ program in the School of Film and Television at UCLA.

“ Sarah Brustkern recently received a Master of Science in botany at Washington State University. Brustkern, who holds a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University, is a 2000 graduate of West Valley High School. She is the daughter of Jean and Andrew Brustkern of Spokane Valley.

Two Spokane residents recently graduated from Montana Tech. Burton Hart II earned a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety in health. Scott Meyers earned a bachelor’s degree in software engineering.

“ Anne Yost of Spokane recently received a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine of Midwestern University. She is a 1982 graduate of North Central High School and a 1986 graduate of Eastern Washington University. Yost is the daughter of Robert and Lolanne McLellan of Spokane.

“ Adrienne Taylor Spokane was recently named to the spring President’s List at Williams Baptist College. Students most hold a 4.0 grade-point average to be named to the list.

“ Curtis Kimbrell recently graduated from officer candidate school at Fort Benning, Ga., and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army. Kimbrell, a missile operator, will be assigned to the 100th Missile Defense Brigade at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado. A 1996 graduate of Mead High School, Kimbrell is the son of Tom Kimbrell and Jodi Kimbrell, both of Spokane.

“ Air Force Senior Airman Sara Duman was recently named the 2005 Air Education and Training Command “Command Post Airman.” Duman, of Spokane, is assigned to the 47th Flying Training Wing at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas. The award is given annually for outstanding performance of command post controllers.

“Two area residents recently graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Airman 1st Class Scott Edgmond, a 2001 graduate of Gonzaga Prep, is the son of Virgel and Karen Edgmond of Spokane.

Reserve Airman 1st Class Melissa Dugger, a 1997 graduate of Selah High School in Selah, Wash., is the daughter of Bonnie Dugger of Spokane.

Bryan Brenize and Robert Gerbing are recent recipients of Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Scholarships. The scholarships cover tuition, books and fees and also give the students a $250 monthly stipend.

Brenize, the son of Fred and Colleen Brenize of Mead, is a 2006 graduate of Gonzaga Prep.

Gerbing, the son of Ronald and Susan Gerbing of Spokane, is a 2006 graduate of a home school program.

Idaho

“ North Idaho College student Veronica Hendricks of Harrison has been named Outstanding Freshman Chemistry Student. As part of the award Hendricks will receive one semester of tuition and fees at NIC.

“ Stuart Henry of Coeur d’Alene was recently selected as the Coeur d’Alene Rotary Club Student of the Month. He is a graduate of the Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy and is a 2006 graduate of North Idaho College.

“ Several University of Idaho students were recently inducted into the Golden Key International Honor Society. Students must be juniors or seniors in the top 15 percent of their class to join. Students are listed by their hometown.
