Frankie Bartoo

Frankie Bartoo is celebrating her 105th birthday today. She was born Aug. 4, 1902, in Harrington, Wash. She has lived in Spokane for 95 years.

Bartoo married her husband, Hubert, on April 29, 1924. He died in 1977.

She has worked as a secretary and accountant and says she has spent her entire life taking classes because she loves to learn. She has studied at least four languages and is still very fluent in French. Her major interests remain music, arts and crafts, and games.

When asked what has helped her live a long and healthy life Bartoo mentions eating fruits and vegetables.

She says that her most memorable moment in the past 105 years is still the birth of her son.

Her son, Wallace Bartoo, lives in Seattle. She also has two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two-great-great-grandchildren.
