Former President Clinton will appear on Oprah Winfrey‘s TV talk show next Tuesday for his first interview to promote “Giving,” a book on philanthropy and civic action coming out the same day.

Clinton’s appearance was announced Monday in an e-mail – “The first interview about his new passion!” – sent to members of Winfrey’s book club.

Winfrey, who interviewed Clinton in 2004 for his memoir “My Life,” has good reason to think highly of the new book.

“Giving” praises Winfrey’s “Angel Network,” which has donated millions of dollars around the world, from money for schools in Africa to relief aid for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

The book also includes comments from Winfrey on why she started the Angel Network and the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls.

“I wanted to give back what I was given, a sense of worth,” she replied. “Everyone wants to matter.”

Clinton has other interviews planned next week, including with Larry King and David Letterman.

No hospital crashers, please

Owen Wilson was reported in good condition Monday in a Santa Monica, Calif., hospital, a day after he was taken from his home by ambulance following what several tabloids reported was a suicide attempt.

“I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time,” said the 38-year-old actor (“Wedding Crashers,” “You, Me and Dupree”).

Hogans know worse

Hulk Hogan‘s son was released from the hospital Monday, a day after a car crash that critically injured his passenger.

Authorities said excessive speed was a factor in the Sunday night accident in Clearwater, Fla. Bollea lost control of his Toyota Supra, and it hit a raised median and a palm tree.

Bollea appears on VH1’s “Hogan Knows Best” with his professional wrestler-father, mother and sister.

On a brighter note …

Tenor Luciano Pavarotti is back home two weeks after he was admitted to an Italian hospital with a high fever.

Pavarotti, 71, had been cleared to leave the hospital after one week, but stayed longer for tests relating to his pancreatic cancer.

No tale of this tape

A judge has extended an order prohibiting the release of a 1994 videotape documenting the late Anna Nicole Smith‘s breast augmentation surgery.

A Texas doctor who sent the tape to a Los Angeles-based memorabilia dealer said he routinely records surgeries with the patient’s permission and promises to keep the video confidential “during the patient’s lifetime.”

Smith’s lawyer, Howard K. Stern, contends she never consented to the recording.
