Duncan Linus Browning

Spokane

Duncan Linus Browning is celebrating his 100th birthday today. He was born June 15, 1907, in Pueblo, Colo., and has been a resident of Spokane for 13 years.

Duncan met his wife, Lucia, through his sister. They were married in 1929. She died in 1981.

Duncan worked on a ranch at age 14 in Fresno, Calif. When he was 17, he was employed by Universal Studios in Los Angeles. Duncan later worked for Chrysler Corp. until he retired.

Duncan attributes his long and healthy life to working hard, gardening, backpacking, hunting and fishing. He also enjoys reading and pastel art.

When asked what his most memorable moment in the past 100 years has been, Duncan replied it was when his father built a radio so everyone in his family could hear the new invention.

Duncan has three children: Lindsay Browning, Garden Grove, Calif.; Marcia Bach, Camarillo, Calif.; and Anne Bigham, Spokane Valley; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
