Hints from Heloise

The Spokesman-Review

Here is a question Heloise Central received: Can you eat canned soup right out of the can, cold? A major soup manufacturer we contacted said yes! Soup can be eaten from the can because it already has been cooked and then packed into cans. The manufacturer did admit that it is usually better when warmed up.

It is always best to check what the manufacturer of the brand of soup has to say. The soup usually has contact information on the product label. Give the manufacturer a call, or check the Web site. And enjoy the soup! Heloise

Dear Heloise: The salad-dressing companies have been cutting costs by not providing flip-top caps. I reuse ketchup-bottle tops. They work better than the usual caps. – Roy Gunther, Cloquet, Minn.
