People: And now, the title for the next X-Files movie

The truth is finally out there about the new “X-Files” movie title.

The second big-screen spinoff of the paranormal TV adventure will be called “The X-Files: I Want to Believe.”

On the tube, that was the slogan on a poster that David Duchovny‘s UFO-obsessed FBI agent Fox Mulder had hanging in the cluttered basement office where he and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) worked.

But the new film, due in theaters July 25, will not deal with extraterrestrials. Instead, it casts Duchovny and Anderson into an earth-bound story aimed at both “X-Files” fans and newcomers alike, says Chris Carter, the creator of the TV series and the movie’s co-writer and director.

“It has struck me over the last several years talking to college-age kids that a lot of them really don’t know the show or haven’t seen it,” Carter says.

“If you’re 20 years old now, the show started when you were 4. It was probably too scary for you or your parents wouldn’t let you watch it. So there’s a whole new audience that might have liked the show.”

The truth is …somewhere

Grammy winner Alicia Keys claims that comments attributed to her in a Blender magazine interview were “misrepresented.”

Keys was quoted as saying that ” ‘gangsta rap’ was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other. ‘Gangsta rap’ didn’t exist.”

“The point that I was trying to make was that the term was oversloganized by some of the media, causing reactions that were not always positive,” she says.

As for saying she wore a gold AK-47 pendant “to symbolize strength, power and killing ‘em dead,” Keys explains that’s a nickname given her “as an acronym for Alicia Keys and a metaphor for wowing people with my music and performances, ‘killing ‘em dead’ on stage.”

Shadows of a doubt

In the celebrity stalker department, singer Debbie Gibson has filed for a restraining order against a Spanish fan who allegedly followed her on tour and showed up at her door.

And Austrian authorities searched Wednesday for a woman who failed to appear in court on charges of stalking and threatening to kill “CSI: Miami” star David Caruso.

Reason to fret

Laguna Beach, Calif., police are seeking a misdemeanor child endangerment charge against Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, who had two children in his car when he was arrested for drunken driving last month.

Pause for a moment of silence

Martha Stewart‘s dog Paw Paw, who was a familiar face on her television show and in her magazine, has died of renal failure at age 12.

Stewart named the 60-pound chow – officially Kublai Khan Paw Paw Chow Chow Chow – for his large paws.
