Spokane Film Festival Jazz Evening - The Spokane International Film Festival kicks off their season with the multi-award winning jazz film “‘Round Midnight,” starring tenor sax great Dexter Gordon. This film shows the moving story of an expatriate black jazz musician and his struggle to create the bebop sound in 1959 Paris. Gordon is sensational in the lead role, earning him an Academy Award nomination. Herbie Hancock, who appears in the film, won an Academy Award for his musical score. Director Bertrand Tavernier beautifully captures the many joys and sorrows that encompass the jazz world. Dinner at Spokane Club immediately following the film. Vegas Magic Show - Spokane’s Northeast Kiwanis Club welcomes Carson Entertainment for their “Camps for Kids” fundraiser. The camp sends low and middle-income children to camp who could otherwise not afford to attend. Featuring Gary Carson and wife Kelsey Kara (former Miss Nevada), a national touring company that has performed across the country at corporate events, on luxury cruise ships, at five-star resorts, and at major casinos and universities.
