She’ll stick to turkey for today

Deen
From Wire Reports

Paula Deen is thankful that the ham didn’t hit her harder.

The celebrity chef was helping unload 25,000 pounds of donated meat for an Atlanta food bank this week when someone threw one of the hams like a football and accidentally smacked her.

“I thought it busted my lip, but it didn’t,” Deen said, adding: “I’m OK. It just knocked me for a little bit.”

Later, she tweeted: “I haven’t met the ham that could stop me yet!”

Deen says she tossed one of the hams to a man who replied, “Back at ’ya.” Thinking he meant it only as a sentiment, she turned around to get another ham – as the errant swine came at her.

Doing good all by himself

Filmmaker Tyler Perry has donated $1 million to the NAACP to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the civil rights organization.

The largest donation from an individual in the organization’s history, it will be distributed over four years.

In a statement, Perry said the perseverance of thousands within the NAACP helped pave the way for his success in the film industry.

The sky’s the limit

Heroism has its benefits, as Chesley Sullenberger found out.

Sullenberger, who safely ditched a US Airways plane in the Hudson River after geese hit the engines, is one of the “People of the Year” interviewed by NBC’s Matt Lauer for a special airing tonight at 9.

Lauer asked Sullenberger and his wife, Laurie, whether his sudden celebrity helped or hurt their relationship.

“He doesn’t know I’m gonna say this, but I had joked the other day that … the hero sex really helps a 20-year-old marriage,” Laurie laughed.

“Rock star sex,” Chesley chimed in.
