4A schools dominate 3A foes

It was feast versus famine Friday when Greater Spokane League 4A football teams took on 3A counterparts.

The closest game was University’s 35-15 home victory over East Valley.

The Knights (2-4, 2-4) countered U-Hi’s first touchdown with Aaron Awbery’s 80-yard run. After that, it was all Titans.

Quarterback Tony Tabish, who passed or ran for four scores, put the Titans (4-2, 4-2) back ahead in the second quarter and hit Brandtly Thornton for a TD following Paul Sindlinger’s interception with less than a minute remaining until halftime.

John Wright capped things off in the fourth quarter with an 87-yard run. He finished with 226 yards on 24 carries. Awbery gained 154 on 17. Tabish passed for 136 yards and two scores.

Ferris 56, Shadle Park 7: Jason Bates caught eight passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns as the Saxons (5-1, 4-1) romped to victory. Ferris piled up 564 yards of offense. Connor Halliday passed for 283 on a 17-for-18 night at Albi Stadium. Shadle dropped to 0-6, 0-6.

Mead 58, Rogers 3: The Panthers (4-2, 4-2) limited the Pirates (1-5, 1-4) to 48 net yards and the offense gained 281 on the ground for the bulk of its damage at Albi. Mike Smith scored twice and gained 95 yards.

Paul Miller had a 55-yard TD run. Quarterback Andy Wetzel passed for three touchdowns, including a 55-yarder to Evan Maack.

Post Falls 13, Central Valley 12: The visiting Trojans (4-2) scored twice in the third quarter to end the Bears’ (5-1) perfect season. CV took a 12-0 halftime lead on a safety, Jake Miller’s 22-yard field goal and a short run by Taylor Evans. Both Post Falls touchdowns came on the ground. Jordan Pastras scored the winner from 4 yards out.
