The Knitting Factory Concert House will be rocking to both extremes over the coming week, with a series of shows that range from hard to soft, from prog-metal to TV-soundtrack pop:

Mat Kearney with Vedera, tonight at 8 ($18): On this year’s “City of Black and White,” singer/songwriter Kearney packages TV- and radio-ready pop reflections from three years on the road, following his “Grey’s Anatomy”-backed major-label debut.

Five Finger Death Punch with Shadows Fall, OTEP and 2 Cents, Sunday, 7 p.m. ($20): California metal band Five Finger Death Punch returns with a sophomore record, “War Is the Answer,” that’s a collection of raw, epic mosh pit anthems, led by Ian Moody’s ferocious attack of spoken-delivery vocals.

Joshua Radin with The Watson Twins, Monday, 8 p.m. ($16): Speaking of music made for television, Radin’s brand of hushed, contemplative folk tales are – like Kearney’s – commonly used on TV soundtracks, further propelling him into the new wave of singer-songwriters.

Puddle of Mudd with Burn Halo and Like A Storm, Tuesday, 8 p.m. ($25): “Spaceship,” the new single from Puddle of Mudd, hints at more hook-heavy hugeness on the Kansas City quartet’s forthcoming “Volume 4: Songs in the Key of Love & Hate.”

Queensryche with Lita Ford, Thursday, 7 p.m. ($30): On its current tour, Bellevue-based Queensryche performs extended suites from classic albums “Rage For Order” and “Empire” along with the band’s new concept album, “American Soldier,” with a special guest performance by Ford.

“American Soldier” explores the experiences and sacrifices of a soldier at war.
