Spokane String Quartet welcomes Farris at Fox

From Staff Reports

Kelly Farris, the Spokane String Quartet’s founding first violinist, will make an encore appearance with the ensemble on Sunday – but on viola.

He will join quartet members for a performance of Antonin Dvorak’s Quintet in E-flat major in their season-opening concert at the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox.

Farris, who retired from both the quartet and the Spokane Symphony after the 2005-06 season, continues to perform regularly with the Seattle Symphony.

Sunday’s program also includes Wolfgang Mozart’s Quartet in B-flat major and Aaron Copland’s Two Pieces for String Quartet.

The concert marks the debut of the quartet’s new second violinist, Tracy Dunlop, former assistant concertmaster for the Spokane Symphony.

Other quartet members are Mateusz Wolski, violin; Jeannette Wee-Yang, viola; and Helen Byrne, cello.
