Everest adventure comes to Spokane
Climbing: The world’s highest peak is casting its shadow on Spokane:
Tonight – “Tao of Everest”, a free program with British mountaineer Ian Woodall, 7 p.m. at REI, 1125 N. Monroe.
Woodall tells the story of having no choice but to leave American climber Francys Arsentiev near the summit of Everest, where she died in 1998, and then returning in 2007 to give her a proper burial on the mountain.
Aug. 6 – “The Wildest Dream: Conquest of Everest” opens Aug. 6 at Riverfront Park IMAX Theater.
The film documents the 1999 effort of an expedition led by Montana climber Conrad Anker to unravel the mysterious death of pioneering Everest climbers George Mallory and Andrew Irvine.
