Program covers land use issues

The Spokesman-Review
A traveling program of a national nonprofit that focuses on responsible land use will stop in Coeur d’Alene on Thursday for a presentation on how water affects the local economy. The Urban Land Institute program will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Parkside Event Center, 601 E. Front Ave. Representatives from the institute will present “Infrastructure 2010,” with a spotlight on water infrastructure, examining aging pipes, population pressures and management challenges across 14 metropolitan areas. That presentation will be followed by a panel providing a regional perspective on water issues including reliance on the Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer, potential conflicts between existing and future water users and how water quality affects land use and economic development. To register for the program, visit www.uli.org or call (800) 321-5011, event code 8149-1015. Call (208) 433-9352 for more information.
