Vince Grippi’s Pac-10 picks

The most exciting game of last week was Washington holding off Oregon State in overtime. When the Beavers went for two and missed, the heads of folks like mine slumped over. We were that close to a perfect week. As always, the listed line is for your entertainment purposes only. All games Saturday unless indicated. UCLA at Oregon (Oregon by 24), tonight: You know, Thursday night games in the state of Oregon haven’t been kind to No. 1 teams. But we wouldn’t call it a trend. Oregon, 48-14. Arizona State at California (Cal by 3.5): Will the Bears play like that did last week, more like Boo-boo and Yogi, or will they be the Kung Fu Pandas that showed up against UCLA? ASU, 24-17. Washington at Arizona (Arizona by 6.5): The Huskies have to pull an upset on the road sometime this season. Might as well be here. UW, 31-28. Washington State at Stanford (Stanford by 34.5): The Cardinal are going to win. It might even be a rout. But it won’t be easy. Stanford, 45-17. Last week: 2-1 overall, 2-1 vs. spread; Season: 37-9 overall, 22-15 vs. spread.
