Area nightclubs get ready to groove in the holidays

No matter what gets you groovin’, there’s an assortment of holiday treats happening over the coming days that are sure to chase away any holiday blues, unless of course the blues is what you’re all about.

You can also get down to tunes from a variety of genres including fusion, reggae, rock, metal and folk Americana.

Here’s a glimpse at the Christmas concert festivities decking the halls at area nightclubs:

Moksha World Fusion

Ichiban Sushi Lounge serves up chill grooves and eclectic instrumentation as bandleader Todd Milne celebrates his 41st birthday with a holiday-season CD release from his band, Moksha World Fusion, with Ellicia Milne, Aaron Mark, Konrad VanDeest and guests.

When, where: 6 p.m. today at Ichiban Sushi Lounge, 202 W. Third Ave.

Cost: Free, all ages welcome

Real Life Rockaz

Real Life Rockaz, Spokane’s premiere reggae group, has been on the DL of late, but the crew is back in action for a pair of parties framing this weekend.

It starts tonight with a CD release party for the band’s first album, which contains studio and live works mixed in with jams from the Real Life vault. The Rockaz return for more on Monday night for a free Christmas Party sponsored by Puffin Glass Studios.

When, where: 9 p.m. today and Monday at Blue Spark, 15 S. Howard St.

Cost: $7 tonight; free on Monday.

Sammy Eubanks

Local blues powerhouses Sammy Eubanks, The Booze Fighters and Anita Royce and the High Rollers come together for the Blue Christmas show at The Knit, bringing with them a wide range of blues stylings from scorching electric to classic influences, recreating holiday favorites.

When, where: 8 p.m. Friday at The Knitting Factory Concert House, 919 W. Sprague Ave.

The Longnecks

If you find tinsel distracting, then this holiday party is for you. This “Festivus for the Rest of Us” is hosted by blues-rock trio The Longnecks.

When, where: 9 tonight at Mootsy’s, 406 W. Sprague Ave.

Victims of Negligence

Area metal standouts Victims of Negligence, Mos Aik USA and Devoured Soul are gunnin’ for Santa’s naughty list with this 18-and-older mosh starter. 

When, where: 7 tonight at The Grail, 4720 Seltice Ave., Coeur d’Alene.

Folkinception

Shake your post-Christmas haze with the sounds of chamber-pop Americana band Folkinception at the Holiday Hangover Party on Wednesday. Then get ready to tie one on for the New Year.

When, where: 9 p.m. Wednesday at Jones Radiator, 120 W. Sprague Ave.
